TIMO WERNER NAMED MLS PLAYER OF THE MATCHDAY

Earthquakes forward leads historic start for San Jose

Timo Werner has been named MLS Player of the Matchday (Matchday 10) after a standout performance for the San Jose Earthquakes.

The forward recorded two goals and one assist in a 3-2 away win over St. Louis CITY SC, continuing his strong impact since arriving this season.

Werner has now registered at least one goal and one assist in three consecutive matches, a first in club history. Since joining San Jose, he has totaled four goals and five assists in just 455 minutes, making him one of the most efficient attacking players in the league.

The win also confirms a historic start for the Earthquakes. The team has won nine of its first ten matches, the best start in MLS history in the post-shootout era, and has also won its first five away games, joining the New York Red Bulls (2022) as the only teams to achieve that milestone.
