Dominant April leads San Jose’s historic run

Timo Werner has been named MLS Player of the Month for April 2026 after a standout run with the San Jose Earthquakes.

Werner finished the month with seven goal contributions (4 goals, 3 assists), helping San Jose go 5-0-0 with the best goal difference in the league. During that stretch, he became the first player in club history to record a goal and an assist in three straight matches.

Since arriving, Werner has totaled 4 goals and 5 assists in just 455 minutes, making him one of the most efficient players in MLS. His impact has also been decisive, contributing multiple game-winning plays.

San Jose’s strong form reflects his influence. The team has won 9 of its first 10 matches, the best start in the post-shootout era, and leads the league in points per game while ranking among the top scoring teams.

Werner becomes the first Earthquakes player to win Player of the Month since Cristian Espinoza in 2023, and only the second German to receive the award, joining Hany Mukhtar
